Bio

Nicolas Sack nasce in Second Life il 4 aprile 2007. Ben presto si dedica al disegno di moda ed al building, senza peraltro ancora intuire le potenzialità creative insite nel Metaverso.

Dopo una pausa di inattività e di lontananza da SL, rientra e comincia la collaborazione col Museo del Metaverso, che prosegue fino ad oggi. Durante questo periodo, aiutato e sollecitato dalla viva ed interessante attività del MdM e dei suoi collaboratori, subisce il fascino delle textures e dei suoi colori, cimentandosi nella creazione di opere che riscuotono un valido consenso già dal primo momento.

Tutta la sua opera è influenzata dal colore e dal suo movimento, integrati in strutture semplici e geometriche, che ne esaltano con variazioni cromatiche semplici, l'effetto suggestivo.

Cubi, griglie e coni, se da un lato sembrano suggerire un riferimento alle luci vivide e multicolori della metropoli con le sue insegne, dall'altro si mescolano e si intrecciano in un arcobaleno presente già in natura.

Nicolas Sack attualmente frequenta ed è tester anche nella OpenSim italiana di Cyberlandia, dove questa stessa esposizione è presentata in contemporanea con Second Life.

Andreas Mueller / Bingo Onomatopoeia, Regensburg, Germany

Andreas Mueller, member of the media-art group Pomodoro Bolzano, started exploring the sonic universe with a tape recorder as early as during elemantary-school, when he tried out things from a book on tape-experiments from the school's library. During his teenage years in the eighties, while playing in noisy bands, he started publishing experimental tracks through the international tape-trader scene. Despite some detours into other fields of performing arts (mainly painting) his main focus has stayed on audio-art. His latest works were contributions for Das kleine Fieldrecording Festival in Regensburg and Berlin, Ljudrum in Eskilstuuna/Sweden and several Placards, mainly under the name Transponderfish. With his avatar Bingo Onomatopoeia he researches the creative potential of the virtual reality in Second Life: by networking, collaborating with other artists, building instruments for the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse and by performing with these.

Cienega’s RL artwork runs through many mediums; Oil and acrylics, sculpting with metal and wood on a large scale. Soft Leather and feather work mixed with glass, and her stained glass work.
Cienega's reason for not bringing her RL work to the grid, is her view of the differences of each environment. She sees a special beauty in Second Life® and believes it should be celebrated in its environment without her RL stuff hanging around in an unnatural view.

Art to Cien is alive everywhere she creates it, an expression of her need to sing with her hand and eyes.

Saying emotion and feelings with art is like music. There is a flow of sound through out my work. A little on the dark side, but still light enough to find a connection.
Rancor is my most important piece so far. I have a need to convey the pain of betrayal.

The over reaction of jealousy and the feeling of retaliation.Here Rancor is a reminder that hate and un-forgiveness causes scars in both directions. The one holding the hate, and the one receiving it.
Walk through Rancor ... there is a small moment of a break through when you walk into love.

If you carry any un-forgiveness I hope you can see a bit better. Just release it and feel free for a moment.

Salve a tutti mi presento sono Holy888 Skjellerup presente in SL ormai da diversi anni. Per arrivare qui ho intrapreso un percorso iniziato molti anni fa. Essenzialmente sono stato sempre appassionato della rete internet sin da quando i modem erano 33.6 Kb/s e già da allora sono stato attratto dalle sue potenzialità. Con l’arrivo di ISDN (64/128 Kb/s) ho cominciato a militare nelle prime comunità internet di Net Gamer (eravamo veramente pochi) come Quake 2, Quake3, ecc. giocando a lungo ho cominciato a produrre le prime mappe 3D con le quali poi i rete avremmo giocato. Arriva ADSL, cambia ancora internet, e nel 2006, casualmente navigando in rete, mi sono imbattuto nel sito di Second Life. Inizialmente ero un po’ scettico, leggendo ciò che era scritto nel sito della Linden Labs credevo che SL fosse una semplice chat 3D. Dopo aver installato per la prima volta il client mi sono reso conto che non era come erroneamente avevo pensato, accorgendomi di quelle potenzialità che se non provi non puoi immaginare. La cosa che mi ha attratto di più ovviamente è stata la possibilità di dare una forma alle propria creatività (nel mio caso di Builder), e per questi motivi dopo anni sono ancora qui che continuo il mio viaggio all’interno di questa piattaforma multimediale con tantissime risorse ed in continua evoluzione. Dal 2006 ho partecipato a diversi stadi a molte attività di SL, ho iniziato il mio primo lavoro di Building proprio aprendo un piccolo negozio con le mie prime creazioni (per lo più quadri con delle foto, piccole fontane, case), passando poi alla costruzione di un’intera Isola, partecipando a progetti diversi più o meno grandi. Oggi dopo tantissimo “Build” ho affinato le mie capacità, cominciando ad essere non più “solo” Builder ma anche Developer, creando ambientazioni sempre più “realistiche” con procedure differenti e sempre più complesse, ottenendo dei risultati di grande soddisfazione. Credo infine che SL, data la sua natura di continua evoluzione, abbia ancora molto da dire e spero che questo progetto si sviluppi sino a rimpiazzare l’attuale WEB 2D. So che la strada è ancora lunga ma già tanta ne è stata fatta, e penso che l’importante sia esserci.

Debris Field is composed of all the objects I have worked with for the past eight months in Odyssey; it's an archaeology of one site by another - an archaeology that constructs something new out of the ruins.

It's not ruins: It's compressed history. It's a history of compression, of textures, of objects, of mistakes, of failures, of errors, of misery, of language/sex/body, of avatar sheave-skin. It what happens when an insomniac gets hold of a virtual world.

Architecture for a new year:

- shapes matter less than the comfort that coheres within them.

- outside assume vagaries and opposition.

- architectures as transitional objects.

- living within the teddy-bear.

- in the Second Life installation: dynamic micro-architectures of

- deconstruction and enclosure.

- no entrances, no exits: one appears, disappears.

- what constitutes coming and going are virtual particles = people.

- virtual to the extent that one passes through doors and walls: one passes through flats, nodes, and textures. nothing is comfortable when the transitional turns on you.

- Second Life = transitional object = preparation for virtual life.

- real life = virtual life; body = inscription; wryting = body; - uncanny = inscription; world = word; word = idiotic.

- micro-architectures of the visible: setting up the camera image just so: harboring time of day, weather, height, distance from avatar or avatar viewpoint, location beneath the ground or water surface or clothing, location in collusion with sheave-skin, moment of capture = arrangement of objects in flight.

- micro-architectures within objects in flight: buildings escaped from occupants, homes escaped from families, dwellings escaped from inhabitants, bodies escaped from inscription.

- bodies escaped from inscription: debris of the body, abjection.

- abjection in micro-architecture: no place to sit, no place to lie: an avatar
never lies. no place to sleep: an avatar never sleeps; no place to declare: an avatar tells the truth.

- coordinates, program, language, protocol, code, alphanumerics,binary oppositions: the truth of anything unforsaken in the saying of it.- micro-architectures: between code and architecture.

For Arena installation in Second Life:

1. Dropping those objects which have been taken - piled, flight: every- thing flees, there's always clear space.
2. Physical objects: non-phantom, but dropped, held in position, but whatever for?
3. Something tawdry, indigestible.
4. Flight to such a degree that they soon tunnel out of site (for most settings), head out of world - the site has to be _tended,_ constantly refurbished. Tended = a tendency to _disappear._

5. To work on _inpenetrable_ sound.

6. To work on transparent non-phantom objects: another position.

7. Intensities as things meld into one another - in the form of a debris field.

8. Debris field = Gaza-slaughter. (title?)

9. Particulation of objects.

10. Object rings with internal physical objects can't get out.

11. None of the above.

12. Try and reach 4098m with pile. (Got to 2327.)

How to view here and in the Odyssey show

suggestions

1. Try turning the glow off. Go to preferences, graphics, and uncheck basic shading, if it's on. Basic shading seems to use up more resources than anything else with the rendering engine. You can also set things like rendering distance; the lower the distance, the faster the loading.

2. Turn the video media button off. This on the lower right-hand corner of the screen. If you turn it on, the texture-mapping consumes a huge amount of resources. On the other hand, the audio for the parcel (the audio button) runs fairly lean.

3. If you find the space too cluttered to enter, try flying in.

4. If you find flying in too cluttered, fly higher, and drop in. There is a dome in the center of the space which you can enter.

5. Most objects on the ground level (and some beneath the ground, on the seafloor) will flee from you - what looks crowded from a distance might well clear out.

6. If it clears out, look up - you'll see all sorts of things above you.

7. Fly vertically to see the rest of the exhibition. If you can't fly as high as you want, click control-alt-d, which opens up an advanced menu. Open the menu and get rid of camera constraints. You can then move the camera at a great distance from your avatar body - your viewpoint moves independently, and you can move at least to the top of the exhibition, which is maybe a mile or so up, SL measurement.

8. If you get stuck anywhere, teleport back in.

9. Try moving inside the objects; the interior textures are often different from the exterior ones (this is almost always the case with the spheres).

10. You can push objects vertically into the sky by moving beneath them and flying; they flee upwards.

11. You can see the exhibition 'differently' by using the advanced menu, going to render, and then looking for info - clicking on any one of the info options will give you different viewpoints.

12. You can often sit on moving objects, which will whirl you around; if you sit on an object that moves vertically as a result of your proximity, you can ride it up. When you stand up again, you can fall down back into the space. The riding height seems to be around 4098 SL units, but unless you have a flight bracelet or feather, you probably won't go that high.

13. Moving about on the ground level, keep the sound turned on (lower right), and you'll hear a variety of songs about SL and language. These mix with a number of looping sound modules embedded in the space.

14. Go to http://www.kippiefriedkin.com/resources/secondlife-viewer-cheatsheet.pdffor shortcuts for all sorts of rendering possibilities; most of these are also available in the menu or advanced menu.

15. If you've been moving around SL a lot, go to preferences, and empty your cache; this might speed things up. You'll have to restart SL again.

16. If you see a sign for teleporting, try it. Sometimes it will lead back to the ground level, sometimes to the seabed, sometimes to a skysphere. All of these locations have clickable objects which will take you else- where (or back to the same space but at a slightly different location). You might have to right-click on the object, then click on teleport - or you might just left click - it depends on the object.

17, Try different 'lenses' - click on control-8 to make the image wide- angle, control-9 to return to normal, control-0 for telephoto. Repeated clicks work as well - with control-8 you can create extreme distortions.

18, Try moving into 'small' spaces and look about. You can save snapshots of anything you see, on your hard drive.

DanCoyote Antonelli:

The avatar DanCoyote was created as the proxy for David “DC” Spensley in the virtual world of Second Life. The name DanCoyote is derived from Cervantes’ Don Quixote and in honor of a coyote that Joseph Beuys lived with for a time at the René Block Gallery in New York during his 1974 action, “I like America and America Likes Me”.

DanCoyote’s costume is intended to be simple and low bandwidth, placing the emphasis on work outside of the avatar. Each detail of DanCoyote’s garb, however, has significance. Yellow and black are high visibility colors and also the official colors of the City of San Francisco. The gold bands on his arms and legs symbolize a release from the bonds of gravity and physicality. The wand in the left hand is called a “caduceus”, which refers to the transformational nature of the Greek god Hermes. Caduceus .03 is also a one of a kind virtual tool, custom programmed to project commands to metamorphosize objects and installations from a distance.

DC Spensley

An alumni of the San Francisco Art Institute, DC Spensley has lived and worked in Northern California since 1986. Spensley wears the hat of writer, director, cinematographer, composer, performance artist and most recently has appeared as the avatar DanCoyote Antonelli in the virtual reality simulation of Second Life. While most people jealously guard their pseudonymity inside this alternate reality, Spensley attempts parity in both worlds and has exhibited internationally at the ZeroOne/ISEA conference in 2006, the Dutch Electronic Arts Festival 2006 and Ars Electronica 2007.

About the work on exhibition at ARENA:

I call this grouping "Recent Retrospective" because it contains art from different bodies of my work done in the last three years as an artist in residence in the virtual world.

Most prominent is the nearly kilometer tall assembly entitled "Drawing". Drawing is neither a drawing or a sculpture, but is rather a conceptual tongue and cheek reference to both kinds of artifact that ironically cannot exist in simulated space. Drawing informs viewers about scale in the virtual world in a way unlike most constructions found in SL by negating the figurative context and pointing out the "avatar powers" of a viewer. This encourages a viewer to become more aware of their configuration options and invites the viewer realize a new level of proficiency in experiencing simulated space. The mute monoliths animate glacially, too slow for the eye to perceive and foreground a sense of the volume of space displaced by the work. Viewers take a chair conveyance available at the "Drawing" sign which carries them up to a vantage point high about the sim.

Also on display:

"Pixel Board", a binary feedback social sculpture. Viewers click squares on the smaller panel and this input appears as output on the larger display, which is then visible from a great distance. Pixel Board explores the social urge to leave graffiti, but in a one-bit, black and white icon format.

"Mutant Hossies". These three weird quasi-horse artworks are remediations of a classic sculptural form and displayed like bronze statues on marble platforms. They are a "mashup", or reworking of an original horse sculpture give away free by Second Life artist Nomasha Syaks. Mutant Hossies have embedded scripting that causes subtle animations to play that support the fanciful variation of horse depicted.

"Tomb Maze" Tomb Maze uses embedded reflexive scripting to create a tomb-like maze that people are encouraged to navigate their avatar through. The maze is possible. It does take some patience, so there is always the chance an impatient avatar might become trapped and need to find other means of escape!

"Very Silly Militude" is not what it seems. Very Silly Militude characterizes the quality of verissimilitude superficially. But when set to midnight, a viewer walking through will see light cast in unusual ways. The exterior layer of the work is a deliberate misdirection and while it appears to be about the movement of heavy objects in space, it is really about the way light is occluded by them.

DB Bailey in Second Life is David Denton, architect in real life. David’s architectural practice includes commercial buildings, urban planning, public art, and exhibition design. His office/studio is located in Marina del Rey, California (www.daviddenton.com). Before starting his own architectural practice David was a principal in other firms, including the office of Frank Gehry.

In Second Life David has been designing projects for almost two years, including a conference center for an international management consulting firm. Currently David is building a large mixed-use project called LOCUS (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Uqbar/45/225/722 ), which is devoted to strengthening the connection between the SL and RL art and design worlds. This project – a community of creative people – is nearing completion and will feature such artists as Robert Wilson and Daniel Maltzman as well as others.

Maria Luisa Grimani risiede ed opera a Monza, Italia
Nel 1975 inizia la sua attività artistica con una ricerca sul gioco e la sua interpretazione visiva. Nel 1976 Bruno Munari pubblica nel suo libro La scoperta del quadrato (Zanichelli) alcune opere di Grimani della serie “partite di scacchi”. Dal 1977 intraprende un lungo itinerario di ricerca sul rapporto tra parola e immagine lavorando sulla interpretazione semiotica del testo poetico. Dal 1981 inizia i “Natali”, una ermeneutica visiva del rapporto tra natura, uomo e divinità. Sono versi di Ungaretti, T.S. Eliot, Borís Pasternàk, Luis de Góngora, G. Apollinaire, R.M. Rilke. Nel 1985 lavora sul romanzo di Italo Calvino Se una notte d’inverno un viaggiatore realizzando dieci tele esposte in un primo tempo alla Villa Reale di Monza, poi al Palazzo dei Diamanti a Ferrara. Allarga inoltre la sua ricerca ai rapporti tra musica e immagine per approdare al segno-gesto ispirato in particolare alla danza e alla filosofia Zen. Nello spirito di quest’ultima presenta all’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Lisbona nel 1990 una mostra dal titolo “Il vuoto meraviglioso”. Nel 1993 è al Salone dell’aeronautica di Parigi con i suoi quadri ispirati alla visione della terra dalla luna, e l’anno successivo è al Museo dell’Aeronautica Caproni di Trento con una mostra dal titolo “Mappaluna 3x3”. Sempre nel 1994 espone il suo “Giardino dei segni” al Festival Oriente Occidente di Rovereto. Nel settembre del 1996 presenta Dialoghi Visionari con Laura Pitscheider al Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Rovereto e nel 1998 a Pietrasanta nel Chiostro di S.Agostino. Nel 1999 è ancora a Rovereto nella Biblioteca Civica per presentare “Quadri per una biblioteca”, quaranta opere che “traducono” in immagine opere letterarie e testi poetici.
Nell’agosto del 2002 scopre la “espressività degli alberi”, insita nelle diverse essenze, nelle loro strutture, venature, nodi. Espone quindi una serie di opere su legno, con tecniche pirografiche e miste al Centro Ladino di Ortisei. Queste opere sono presenti on line in un Museo americano Nell’ottobre del 2002 partecipa alla manifestazione Lire en fête a Marsiglia con una serie di libri d’artista. Nel 2004 è ospite di Italia Nostra al Parco di Monza con la mostra “ l’albero racconta” accompagnata dall’arpista Elena Cordublas, con lettura di testi poetici,.
Nel 2007 inizia un dialogo su Internet con il gruppo Password, a cui partecipano poeti ed artisti che risiedendo in ogni parte del mondo lavorano on line con il personal computer, gli uni scrivendo poesie, gli altri traducendole in immagini, con mostre a Graz, Pechino, Washington.
Nello stesso anno presenta nella Galleria Civica di Monza “Il libro che suona che canta che balla” una panoramica del suo lungo lavoro d’artista, che accoglie anche le ultime opere elaborate al computer, presentato con quattro eventi di musica, danza, letture di poesia e creatività.
Nel 2008 è alla Feltrinelli di Monza per la prima mostra del suo avatar Sarima Giha

E’ un avatar nato il 9 settembre del 2007. Aveva uno scopo ben preciso per nascere in Second Life: far conoscere il lavoro artistico di Maria Luisa Grimani alle persone che per divertimento o impegno viaggiano in questo incredibile mondo digitale. Una struttura portante, esposizione permanente creata dall’avatar Core Tatham, svetta verso il cielo con le sue poesie visive, frutto della collaborazione con i poeti di Password.
Terminata la sua prima missione, è partita alla scoperta del mondo virtuale entrando tra le pieghe dei paesaggi, delle sculture e degli oggetti creati dagli avatar, e collezionando una serie di snapshot come “prove d’artista”.
Nascono così nuove poesie e le sue prime “cartoline”, viaggi virtuali e mentali, descritte nel suo blog personale “Il fogliomondo di Sarima”, aperto per raccontare in Internet le sue esperienze.
La sua autobiografia, sempre in evoluzione, è un libro in carta scritto, illustrato e costruito a mano da Maria Luisa Grimani.

Curriculum (English)

Maria Luisa Grimani is an artist who lives and works in Monza, Italy.
In 1975 she began her activity by “translating” chess games in visual design. Bruno Munari appreciated these works and put two of them in his book “La scoperta del quadrato” (ed. Zanichelli). From 1977 Grimani embarked on a long path to find out the connections between word and image by studying in depth the semiotic interpretation of poetic texts. In 1981 she started a series of interpretation of Christmas poems, a visual ermeneutica about the relations between nature, mankind and divinity. She chose lines from G. Ungaretti, T. S. Eliot, R. M. Rilke, G. Apollinaire, Boris Pasternàk and Luis De Gongora. In 1985 she worked on Italo Calvino’s novel « Se una notte d’inverno un viaggiatore “ creating ten works on canvas exhibited for the first time at the Villa Reale di Monza then at the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara. Then she expanded her artistic research looking for the connections between music and images to achieve a gesture-sign inspired particularly by dance. In 1990 she presented “Il vuoto meraviglioso”, Zen inspired works in Lisbon (Portugal). Grimani was also attracted by the relations between macro and micro aspects of the world. Invited by an Italian Aircraft Company, she created a series of pictures on the vision of the earth from the moon. These works were presented in 1993 at the Aeronautic Exibition Le Bourget, Paris (France). The year after she was invited to an exhibitions dedicated to the 25° anniversary of the moon-landing at the Aeronautic Museum Caproni in Trento, for which she realized three triptyches called “Mappaluna 3x3”. In 1994 she presented her “Giardino dei segni” at the Festival of the Dance Oriente Occidente in Rovereto (Italy). Again, in the Museum of Modern Art (MART) of Rovereto, in 1996, she presented a series of paintings called “Dialoghi Visionari”, together with the artist Laura Pitscheider, inspired by the architectural vaults of an ancient palace. On 1999 she was once again in Rovereto at the Civic Library to present “Quadri per una biblioteca”, paintings inspired by her readings of Calvino, Perec, Pessoa and other writers. In 2002 she realized a series of pyrographic woodworks, trying to interpret the grain and veins of different trees. These works were shown at the Ladin Museum in Ortisei and are present on an American Museum on line. The same year she presented her first series of art-books at the exhibition “Lire en fête” in Marseille (France), invited by the Atelier Vis-à-Vis. In 2004 the exhibition “L’albero racconta” takes place in the Park of Monza invited by Italia Nostra together with a concert by the harpist Elena Cordublas and poetry reading. At the end of 2006 she starts a dialogue on Internet with an international community “Password”, a group of poets and visual artists that exchange poems and images on line: Up to now Password has presented its works in Graz, Austria, in Washington, at the Art Fair of Beijin and next shall be in Milan. In 2007 the Civic Art Gallery of Monza gave her the opportunity of presenting her artistic itinerary including her last works elaborated by the computer, together with four events of dance, music, poetry reading, and creative experiences.

She was born the 9th of September 2007. She gave herself an aim: to present Maria Luisa Grimani’s artistic work to people who travel in this digital world and whose sensibility and creativity is particular. A supporting structure, a permanent exhibition created by the avatar Core Tatham, stands out against the sky, showing her visual lines inspired by the poems of password’s writers. Then, she set out to discover this virtual world coming into the details of the landscapes, of the scultures, of the objects created by the avatars and collecting a series of snapshots as “prove d’artista”. New visual poems, picture postcards, virtual and mental travels are described in her personal blog “il fogliomondo di Sarima", born to tell her experiences and adventure in second life.

Presentazione Istallazione

Su Arena call for artists presenterò il mio blog “Il fogliomondo di Sarima” come un’opera unica dedicata a Second Life.
E’ una grande opportunità per me poter presentare in una visione unitaria, una città fantastica, sospesa nello spazio e ondeggiante, dove svettano immagini, parole e suoni. Una pagina in più per il mio “libro che suona che canta che balla”.
In questa fase il mio racconto si fa tramite tra il mondo reale e il mondo virtuale ed è un’opera in continua evoluzione. Non è ancora conclusa ma sta prendendo corpo sotto gli occhi di tutti.
Un blog che si fa città, dove la protagonista Sarima racconta di sé ma molto degli altri, degli avatar, dell’arte, dell’architettura, della vita reale che si specchia inevitabilmente anche nel mondo virtuale nel tentativo di migliorarne la qualità ovunque essa si svolga.

My work is made of the basic elements of the inworld - its land, clouds, water, and trees. That exists inside/outside a gallery. I do Art to consider what is OutWorld/InWorld, through consideration of what is outside/inside. "inworld" is a type of "real life," and not its opposite, that is the only premise of Art/life to be inworld. I hope the day will come when the residents will be proud to live inworld, free from a business dictatorship.

L'espressività di MIlla si traduce e intrerpreta attraverso una mutevolezza di colori e scenari. In alcune foto il protagonista assoluto è l'avatar, con una ricchezza di particolari che lo rendono quasi tridimensionale, come per dargli la possibità di uscire dalla fotografia stessa. Altre volte invece, i colori degli sfondi catturano gli occhi con una sorta di ipnosi psichedelica dove il personaggio centrale non è percepibile nell'immediatezza e dà spazio alla ricerca, al gioco dello scoprire, comprendere, immedesimarsi , interagire aggiungendo o togliendo attraverso la propria immaginazione colori o oggetti, a quelli della foto. L'essenza delle opere di Milla è l'essere completamente liberi.

LUNE EMOTIVE

Finalità:
1) promuovere la diffusione di espressioni creative di autori esordienti in collaborazione sinergica, dare cioè l'impulso ad una nuova forma di spettacolo virtuale.
2) affiancando queste espressioni creative sempre a temi sociali scarsamente conosciuti, offrire informazione attraverso il principio del piacere utilizzando il metaverso come mezzo di comunicazione di temi volutamente ignorati da stampa e televisione.
3) creare percorsi di ascolto come una nuova caccia al tesoro tra land Italiane che conduca alla fine al Pyramid Cafè vero luogo di incontro e culla di collaborazioni e scambi creativi.

Caratteristiche del progetto:
Nascendo dalla genetica di Pyramid il microcosmo di LUNE EMOTIVE ne segue i principi. Non richiede un grande dispendio di prims in quanto le diverse ambientazioni verranno rezzate singolarmente.
Si tratta nello specifico di ambientazioni contenute all'interno di sfere giganti nelle quali sarà possibile ascoltare in suggestive atmosfere brani di musica e poesia erotica.
Questa sfere o Lune emotive, per l'appunto, verranno rezzate da un jukebox che conterrà anche varie informazioni. Il progetto che avrà la sua sede definitiva in una piazzola di Kastalia in prossimità del Pyramid Cafè, prevede inoltre di essere collegato attraverso delle teleporte ad altrettante land dove verranno ospitate delle singole sfere nelle quali saranno semplicemente inseriti dei racconti erotici o delle poesie erotiche da ascoltare e che a loro volta porteranno a Kastalia/Vulcano. In ogni postazione verrà inoltre dato un invito a quanti avendo capacità grafiche o musicali vogliano creare a loro volta nuove ambientazioni per l'ascolto dei racconti e delle poesie spiate dalla luna, di cui sono autrice.

LUNE EMOTIVE (EMOTIONAL MOONS)

Purpose:
1) promote the dissemination of creative expressions of authors at their debut in synergy and collaboration, in other words, give impetus to a new form of virtual entertainment.

2) supporting these creative expressions about social issues unknown by the most part of people , providing information through the principle of pleasure using metaverso as a communications medium of issues deliberately ignored by the press and television.

3) create listening routes as a new treasure hunt among Italian lands, leading ultimately to the Pyramid Café, the real meeting place and cradle of creative collaborations and exchanges.

FEATURES OF THE PROJECT:

Born from the genetic of Pyramid the microcosm of the EMOTIONAL MOONS follow the principles. Does not require a lot of prims as the various environments will be individually rezzed.
This is in specific, locations contained inside giant spheres in which you can listen in evocative atmosphere erotic poetry and music.
This spheres or emotional moons , in fact, will be rezzed by a jukebox that will also contain different informations.

The project will have its permanent seat in a little part of Kastalia near the Pyramid Cafe, also plans to be connected through teleports to lands where they will be housed individual spheres in which will be simply incorporated the erotic stories or erotic poems to be heard and that in turn will lead to Kastalia / Vulcano.
In each location will also be given an invitation to those who have musical graphical skill wants to create new locations for listening to stories and poems spy from the moon, of which I am the author.
The project lune emotional are associated raising funds for victims of uranio impoverito (impoverished uranium) promoted by the blog of Franca Rame followed by italian military observatory

Nasco in second life in aprile 2007, il mio ingresso parte dal blog di franca rame ed è motivato dal tentativo di entrare in contatto con quanta più gente possibile per diffondere informazione.

-fino a settembre 2007 mi "tippo" attraverso varie land dove collaboro imparando...poi approdo a Vulcano Pyramid dove con l'aiuto di Magicflute oh e molti altri amici realizzo le mie 8 lune emotive

-in ottobre tengo il primo spettacolo di poesia dal vivo presso la land di rocca rossini

-in dicembre partecipo come ospite all'evento inaugurale di Pyramid cafè con una performance con le prime coreografie e scenografie di mia ideazione

-In gennaio 2008 comincio a tenere a Pyramid cafè 10 incontri settimanali di poesia e musica dal vivo. Nel corso di questa preziosa esperienza imparo i tempi declamatori utili nel metaverso e altri piccoli excamotage utili alla buona riuscita di un evento di intrattenimento che non replica la realtà perchè rispetta i mezzi di second life e non ne violenta il rendimento...non uso streaming che impedisce l'immediatezza .

-contemporaneamente da gennaio inizio una collaborazione con ALESSIO SANTACROCE musicista livornese del gruppo LA QUARTA VIA che nel metaverso tiene incontri per la raccolta fondi e la promozione dell'associazione antropos. divento ospite abituale, su sua richiesta, dei suoi eventi ed una mia poesia viene inserita in un disco che attualmente viene venduto in Toscana per la raccolta fondi

-l'8 marzo 2008 inauguro a PYramid le lune emotive con il primo evento strutturato teatralmente in una ambientazione da me creata chiamata crisosfera (durata media degli eventi 1 ora)

I am luce laval and I was born into this virtual world on March 14 2007.

I flew and wandered without a goal for some time to find a reason for "this life'' until I discovered INDIRE (Italian sand box ) and a window opened into the world of unlimited imagination and creativity and I found my reason.

In the Indire sandbox I met welcoming friends who helped me along this discovery of the ''build.'' They were there with me the first time I showed my work to the Pyramid of Indire Museum and this inspired my creativity to explode. It was also here that I met Jeb Söderström (artist and scripter) who helped me complete my training.

The colors, the reflection and movement are the''whole''of my sculptures and, although not a scripter, I create scripts to use in my work.

I like to get extreme and and experiment which sometimes results in unexpected effects I had not planned -- "happy accidents."

I create much of my work on the Platform Kastalia in the Vulcano sim, a fantastic island which provides room for me to explore creatively. I have found wonderful synergy here with some wonderful artist friends.

More recently, I have been creating pieces on Caerleon Isle (an American sim) with wonderfully generous artists where I continue experimenting with other forms of art.

Bryn Oh is the online ghost artist of a real life oil painter. She is a concept really. The idea is to see if an entity that exists only online can succeed as an artist. Can a digital character step forward from the second life and enter the first life. Could she exhibit in real life shoulder to shoulder with flesh and blood artists?

The visual artist essentially has one main purpose, to make the viewer look at or interact with their creation for as long as possible. When the viewer has moved away then you may have lost them so essentially don't let them leave. A good artist will subtly employ different techniques to keep the eye of the viewer traveling within the piece. For example, generally (and all art "rules" are general) the viewer’s eye will enter a painting starting in the bottom right hand side. The eye tends to travel counter clockwise in a circular manner moving from focal point to focal point. The artist will then try to lead the eye to areas of importance. This can be done through colour theory, composition or a multitude of other methods. The artist wants to capture the viewer and suspend their disbelief. Make them feel like they are within the painting. I like to work on large paintings to block out the viewer’s peripheral vision. Don't let them see a light switch or another painting or even another person in their peripheral because that only anchors them to the knowledge that they are in fact within a gallery setting looking at a 2D image. Those elements prevent the viewer from becoming fully immersed. And this is where Second Life comes in. I believe the next big art movement will be immersive art, and I think second life is the start to this. We still look at a computer screen and can be distracted by our peripheral, by the need to use a keyboard, by our cat or by the phone ringing. But we have taken the step to be immersed in a 3D environment rather than viewing a 2D image. When space is available I create a story to catch the viewers attention. I create mysteries or environments for participation, and I am constantly trying to think of other ways to further immerse the viewer. We are at the beginnings now but I imagine the art of the future to be when someone comes home from work and plugs into an environment. They might be transported to a canoe on a lake with calling loons or their grandmothers’ kitchen. But perhaps the real test of an artist will be drawing out the shiver one feels when their virtual lover caresses their cheek. The feeling of love for an entity that does not exist in the real world, but was able to draw forth such an emotion due to the viewer’s full immersion into a storied environment.

Vicky's Moskitos #13, directed by Miulew Takahe has been presented at the Art.Think.Box SL performed by the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse and simultaneously at the Waag Society Amsterdam, presented and performed by ookoi and additionally screened and webcast as part of a live emission of Killer TV. Except for Vicky's voice reading, a text by Harold Shellinx, which was streamed live from Sweden, all sounds used (typing, clicks, bumps, water, goats and more) were found and played within Second Life, by means of 'aviophones', created by Bingo Onomatopeia.
2. FADHEIT

'Fadheit' is a piece of soundart, that existed before in RL. Based on a Soloversion for a Laptop (Supercollider 3) the composition was played also by Laptoporchester Berlin. The german word "Fadheit" means something like staleness. The composition deals with elementar sounds of a violin and tries to explore elementally these sounds. This produces a somehow stale environment. In East-Asia (China, Korea, Japan) staleness is often also positivly denoted. Fadheit is then the reduction of the basic things and of the crucial and essential moments.
3. RUE BLANCHE
The name of the piece is inspired by the book 'Le vol d´Icare' by Raymond Queneau. Icare is the main character who walks out on is author. One day he disappears from his author and this is the frame of this story. The character Icare did not want to be locked inside the story of the author and when suddenly he gets free he explores a new world. Icare finds himself on a zero point and that is the street called Rue Blanche. Icare seems to enjoy this and he from there he explores the new life. Things he has not been able to do before. He feels very free and with lust for life. He also falls in love with LN.
Rue Blanche was made as an experiment to work with sine tones in harmonic series in an orchestral context. A sine tone is the most simple and pure waveform consisting of only one frequency. A harmonic series is a progression of tones with start from the fundamental tone frequency and then 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 times the fundamental frequency. The HUDs was prepared with two sets of sine tone harmonic series. In addition to the sine tones the piece includes found sounds or field recordings.

4. WEE NO KRESH
The Onomatophone was created out of the idea to build an instrument with real 3-dimensional sound. The result is an instrument that separates the control-interface from the sound-generation: six spheres sending out audio fly right through the audience, thus giving everybody a unique, continuously changing mix. Technically, it is a project for learning the coding of LSL (Linden Scrpting Language), I had to create an interface controlling the sounds as well as the movements of the spheres - plus visual feedback for the audience (and player) as the buttons change color when clicked.
In order not to make this a solo-piece for me, I extended the instrumentarium and created a special HUD for Miulew to do the vocal/solo role, so the general arc of tension for the whole song would not have to rely on me alone remote-controlling loops. The rest of the orchestra has HUDs to add percussive spice to the whole thing.

5. URSONATE DECONSTRUCTED
The original Ursonate consists of a written organization of phonetics,with notations in German. No notes, tempi, or formal dynamics are given, allowing the performer a bit of freedom. In his notes to the piece, Schwitters writes "As with any printed music, many interpretations are possible. As with any other reading, correct reading requires the use of imagination." For the Avatar Orchestra version of Ursonate, composer Shintaro Miyazaki cut up a interpretation by Adachi Tomomi into many audiosamples of different lenghts and visualized this process by using avatar-deforming scripts by Gazira Babeli as "ready-mades" for its own piece of conceptual scriptbased soundart. Schwitters Ursonate can be interpretated as a reflexion on the medium and speaking technics of language itself. The Deconstruction of the avatars in "Ursonate Deconstructed" leads to a reflection of the technical basics of Second Life and thus also of virtual digital art itself. By creating a war-game like situation Miyazaki refers not only on the kittlerian notion that all media technology especially the computer, but also the synthesizer is born out of war technologies, but also on the fact that the development of computer games was a consequence of the simulation systems invented to train troops and soldiers during the cold war. "Ursonate Deconstructed" is an attempt of bringing these facts to an interested audience in a game-like, playful way.

6. FRAGULA

The piece is a play with words "fragment", "fragile", "fragula" and "Dracula". The visual part of this piece is made from small and big movements and animations of avatars while having the sound sack being colored in different colours. One of the major ideas about this piece is to have the orchestra to wander from a fragile and fragmented digital synthezised sound texture into a more analog acoustic and not so fragmented sound texture, and then come back to where it all started. This is aurally symbolized in the granulated synthezised sounds of sine waves, square waves and sawtooth shaped sounds. Also arpeggiated synthetic figures then gradually transform into the sounds of an old harmonium with unprecise playing. There is also a transitional sound in between the digital and analog sound sources where a time stretched harmonium sounds gets this role. There is three groups of players in this piece as the different sounds forms chordal sound textures.
7. SLippery SLope
"SLippery SLope" was composed exclusively for the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse in the popular virtual world, Second Life. This classically influenced new music composition uses a special written score and custom designed instruments as well as functioning reproductions of classical instruments. The composition itself is based on the virtually geophysical location and proximity of each Orchestra performer as well as their respective audience. Thiscomposition is as much an aleatoric endurance performance piece as well as an experiential product of 19th century Romantic Composer ambitions. The goal for each Orchestra performer (as well as the composer) is to successfully ascend 3 coloured slippery slopes. The composition ends once every performer has successfully ascended all 3 slopes.

8. RIESENRAD
This timbrally maximalist composition is an homage to all the composers throughout history that have either lived, worked or premiered any of their own compositions in Vienna. Structurally speaking, this composition can be seen as a hypermodernist and mechanistic "proof-of-concept" rather than a Romantic style composition with a clearly defined programmatic narrative with a Schenkarian tonal resolution hierarchy. The "real" Riesenrad is actually Vienna's largest family-sized Ferris Wheel and a familiar tourist attraction. In addition to virtual clasical instruments, the "modernists" have a special HUD interface where they can improvise using 24 recycled samples from various composers affiliated with Vienna. Another unique feature of this orchestral opus for Second Life is the fact that the composer/conductor is also responsible for producing classical drone/engine sounds from an exclusive HUD interface. 9. THE HEART OF TONES

This piece was originally composed for trombone and two oscillators, and commissioned by Abbie Conant and her Wired Goddess Project during her residency at Mills College in the Fall of 1999. The premiere of the piece was done at Mills College. This is an ensemble version of the piece adapted for the mixed realities of Second Life and Real Life, combining virtual instruments with live trombones and voices streamed into Second Life. The Heart of Tones: A tone, in this instance, D4, is minutely explored in the smallest possible increments on, above and below the prescribed pitch, through the smallest timbre variations and spatial locations by performers on virtual and physical instruments. The pitch variations are never more than a half step away from the given pitch. The resultant beats, timbral shifts and audio illusions create rhythms, transformations and textures of depth. The focus is on listening to the acoustic beat frequencies and the overtones that result from playing tones together that are very very close together in frequency. The musicians decide independently and intuitively on the variations.
10. XAANADRuuL

world premiere: XAANADRuuL is a Second Life composition in 3 sections created for the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse. One can see this composition as an official elegy/tribute to the Modernist music pioneer, Karlheinz Stockhausen. XAANADRuuL was created from the samples that were solely derived from the composer's own digitally manipulated voice. This composition was inspired by Stockhausen's claim of being an alien from Sirius and so the 3 sections of this composition correspond to Sirius A, B and C stars. In addition, there are also many references to Xanadu (including the movie with Olivia Newton John) The Opening Ceremonies take place on Sirius A where angels sing along with the selected voice samples heavenly heights on the ceiling of a pentagonal geodesic dome and also on Sirius B where meandering avatars vainly attempt to communicate with these alien angelic muses using only pre-recorded samples. Sirius C is a "meta-composition" and is performed by the public throughout Second Life.
11. PwRHm
PwRHm explores electricity and connectivity through the relationship of 2 sets sine tones tuned to the harmonic series of the Alternating Currents of the North American (60 Hz) and European/Asian (50 Hz) electric systems respectively; modified field recordings of electric motors and generators from each continent; and the live breath rhythms of the globally dispersed players. PwRHm uses 4 'instruments' created within the Second Life platform. The instrument sounds are made from sets of short (3- 7 second) sound samples put together in a HUD (Heads Up Display) configuration. Each avatar/player is playing one or more of the instruments designated by their geographic location to make the combined sound of the piece. The globes held by the players are 'receivers' that emit differently coloured particles according to the particular instrument they each play, and the pitch and volume of each sound as it is played. This piece was composed for a concert by AOM at the Centre for Culture and Politics, De Balie Movie Theatre, Amsterdam. In his real life, Biagio Francia is an economist and musician. 14. IN WHIRLED (TRANCE) FORMATIONS
An improvisatory piece that invites participants to transform themselves through sounding and moving, with members of AOM employing North's virtual versions of his RL Singing Masks as "vehicles of transformation." The result is intended to be a spontaneously playful shaping of sound, light, and motion. This is a simple conceptual piece calling for improvization, "spontaneous order",as Pauline Oliveros calls it given a particular mind-set. In this as well as other Singing Mask ceremonies, my interest is in listening into the moment and using masks to connect with alternate realities, modes of cognition, if you will, or underlying fabrics, weaves of energies. Within this framework, everything is "perfect." No need to worry about making mistakes. Simply remain aware of the basic conditions: listening, transforming, or in other words being in whirled trance (formation).

15. ALEATRICITY
"Aleatricity is 200 years of science, technology and cultural history put into a noisy little piece, with Frankenstein as the glue sticking it all together. " This piece, written by Andreas Müller (aka Bingo Onomatopoeia) for the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse in 2008 uses only samples generated by circuit-bent instrument and homemade oscillators. Thus, these sounds cannot be assigned to a definite pitch or scale, they seem to be aleatoric at first glance. But upon a closer look at the technology of their electronic generation, one quickly realizes that they are not at all: they are created by unambiguous laws of digital logic, following simple yes/no-decisions. This is reflected in the title: "Aleatricity" is a blend of "aleatoric" (random) and "electriciy", two words whose close relation is being illustrated by the visual realization in Second Life: the accidental discovery of the nerve-system by Luigi Galvani and the act of writing against the boredom of a rainy summer by Mary Shelley, which procreated the world's first science-fiction novel "Frankenstein" are brought into a visual and acoustic relation which exemplifies that seemingly unconnected things are often closely related.

16. PATAPHONE AOMPROVISATION
Michel Waisvisz was a composer, performer and inventor of experimental electronic musical instruments. He was the artistic director of STEIM in Amsterdam from 1981 to his passing in June of 2008. At STEIM, he collaborated with musicians and artists from all over the world. As the avatar Pata Mayo, he made the Pataphone in Second Life, planning to develop it over time. Its delightful sounds reflect the adventurous sonic mind of its creator, who infected all of us with a love for play and delightful discovery in sound. Thank you, Michel.

17. BIRTH
This new piece by media artist and rock musician Liz Solo is a work in progress exploring notions of birth in real life and the virtual world. The sounds include recordings from inside the womb, fetus heartbeats, baby cries, bells, and other sounds. The 3 instruments played by the avatars were built by Liz in Second Life, and will become HUD instruments worn by the avatars for future versions of the piece.

Avatar Orchestra Metaverse is a global collaboration of musicians, media-artists and sound artists, who meet in the virtual space of Second Life to explore the boundaries of space and music. Although being globally distributed (Canada, USA, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Japan), they meet to play and work together in real-time. They do not try to imitate a conventional orchestra, but use the new medium as an instrument, where the generation of a sound can also trigger movements and graphics. The result is a new audio-visual experience, where the audience is witnessing a live-event, played by musicians thousands of miles apart.

Sicuramente è l’espressione più chiara che descrive le visioni del “viandante” contemporaneo, colui che non conosce limiti di spazio e che transita da una geografia all’altra, registrando la precaria esistenza dei confini. Ad emergere è l’idea del viaggio, lo stato mentale dell’artista che vede nell’esplorazione l’apertura all’incontro. Ecco dunque l’importanza dell’esposizione in SL di immagini scattate in altri mondi sintetici, in questo caso di un mondo virtuale cinese. The exhibition of Moleskines by Marco Manray, one of SL best known reporters, is based on Bolter's and Grusin's concept of "re-mediation" - typical of the new digital media. For sure re-mediation is the most vivid description of the contemporary visions of the "traveller", who knows no limit of space and shifts from one geography to the other, recording the precarious existence of borders. What comes up is the idea of journey itself, of the artist's state of mind and of exploration as opening oneself to encounters. Hence the importance of showing in SL images shot in other synthetic worlds, specifically in a Chinese virtual world. The description is completed by the "hyper-mediation" of a moleskine notebook. - Mario Savini

Differenti modalità di accesso rendono la struttura aperta alle collaborazioni e cooperazioni che intervengono a modificare la forma iniziale verso un'esperienza. Le esperienze che nascono nei diversi luoghi del nostro mondo attuale diventano, connettendosi, modi di percepirsi e definire un'estetica dei nuovi media. E' uno spazio disponibile alla cooperazione, alla dislocazione di azioni che vengono a loro volta a coprire più social network.. Quindi, un piattaforma aperta che conserva, come tutte le piattaforme una storia lunga che racconta degli altri, distanti e spesso sconosciuti. Born in 1955 in France, Patrick MOYA study the Fine Arts at "Villa Arson" in Nice, before working as a Fine-Art model (nude !) during ten years.After that, he never stop painting, sculpting, drawing, performing but always about/with his own name, MOYA, and his own image.Since 1985, he also create with a computer, first digital images then 3D movies. In 1995, he thinks up his little "moya", mix of himself and Pinocchio, that he declines in "pseudo-naive" paintings.Very famous in the south of the France (his gallery is the same than for artists of "Ecole de Nice" Movement, Klein, Arman, César, Ben etc), he is often travelling for exhibitions in Paris, London, Italy, Europe, Asia, and sometimes USA.Creator of Dolly, the "mascotte" of the famous teckno parties named Dolly Party, he has just finished (june 2007) his Chapel (a fresco about saint John the baptist, made on a basis of self-portraits), who is located in Clans, a little village nearby Nice.

i was born in 1966 in Japan, and was doing sulpt modelering, scripting and making animations in Second Life.
This installation which i called "1000 eyes" was inspired by Jacque Attali's "A Brief History of the Future". He said that in future we will be always under watch. Instead we will have to show much information about ourselves to prove we're good people , not kinda terrorists.
Floating eyes symbolize the world under watch. Some peole think them as negative things, threats to privacy. However someone rather feel positive and enjoy leaving their informations as if it's kinda new social games or modern arts. Which one are you?

Second Front is the pioneering performance art group in the online avatar-based VR world, Second Life. Founded in 2006, Second Front quickly grew to its current 8 member troupe that includes Jeremy Owen Turner (Vancouver), Doug Jarvis (Victoria), Tanya Skuce (Vancouver), Gazira Babeli (Italy), Penny Leong Browne (Vancouver), Patrick Lichty (Chicago), Liz Solo (St. Johns) and Scott Kildall (San Francisco). Taking their influences from numerous sources, including Dada, Fluxus, Futurist Syntesi, the Situationist International and contemporary performance artists like Laurie Anderson and Guillermo Gomez-Pena, Second Front creates theatres of the absurd that challenge notions of virtual embodiment, online performance and the formation of virtual narrative. Stefania Albertini e Giampiero Moioli lavorano a sculture e progetti a quattro mani dal 1992. Hanno studiato Scultura all’ Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano. Giampiero Moioli è anche laureato in Architettura al Politecnico di Milano.
Sono entrambi docenti di Scultura all’ Accademia di Brera a Milano.
L’ interesse per la terza dimensione intesa in modo fisico e tangibile si è evoluto verso la progettualità e il rapporto della scultura con lo spazio architettonico e urbano per arrivare alla scultura interattiva virtuale.

Mi hanno chiesto : perchè parlare di api e sistemi virtuali ?
Quando mi chiedono il perchè di un qualcosa , spesso mi torna alla mente un bellissimo racconto di Gianni Rodari in cui un ragazzo "al contrario" non imparò mai a fare le domande giuste e era solito fare domende del tipo : perchè le calze hanno i piedi ? Ecco , tempo fa sentii chiedere ad un amico in un incontro : perchè hai smesso di fumare ? Fui molto colpito da questa domanda come se il bambino al contrario si fosse ripresentato uscendo dal libro del poeta .
Pensai ma come , la domanda giusta potrebbe essere semmai ad un fumatore : perchè continui a fumare ? Il prechè uno smetta sembrerebbe piu' logico , almeno così a spanne . Perchè parlare di api che si estinguono , dell'ecatombe , della strage che sta decimando pla metà delle api in tutto il mondo ? é una esigenza, un bisogno impellente, un'irrevocabile appuntamento con la coscienza di uomo e animale inserito in un ecosistema accorgermi che il "mio" ecosistema sta andando a rotoli . Ci sarebbe da chiedersi : perchè se ne parla così poco?
Quando conobbi haico e le sue fantastiche installazioni pensai che prima o poi avrei dovuto farlo conoscere a piu' persone , la dolcezza, la poesia presente nel suo "programmare" oggetti virtuali....è un messaggio denso di significato, pregno della sua attenzione per il mondo che ci circonda , rincuora, stimola, commuove .
Averlo "gemellato" come installazione virtuale di ecosistema e parlare Della crisi degli alveari è un "rafforzativo" , una musica nella scena clue di un film , un sottolineare, un grassetto , per cercare di strappare all'audience un emozione in piu', per spingere, stimolare, e come dovrebbe ogni piccola o grande opera d'arte (si come i libri), infine, rimandare alla vita .

Colony Collapse Disorder .
Sindrome dello svuotamento degli alveari (SSA, in inglese CCD, ovvero Colony Collapse Disorder) è un fenomeno ancora poco conosciuto per il quale le famiglie di api (Apis mellifera) periscono bruscamente. Il SSA/CCD è stato riscontrato per la prima volta nelle colonie di api del Nord America alla fine del 2006. [1]
Gli apicoltori europei osservarono un fenomeno simile in Belgio, Francia, Olanda, Grecia, Italia, Portogallo e Spagna [2].
Le prime segnalazioni arrivarono anche dalla Svizzera e dalla Germania anche se in misura minore [3]. Possibili casi di SSA/CCD sono stati riscontrati anche aTaiwan dall'aprile 2007[4].
La causa (o le cause) della sindrome non sono ancora ben comprese: alcune teorie parlano di stress dovuto ai cambiamenti ambientali[5], malnutrizione, vari patogeni(come ad esempio le Patologie delle api [6], compreso il Virus israeliano della paralisi acuta [7][8]), acariosi, pesticidi come ad esempio neonicotinoidi o imidacloprid, radiazioni da telefoni cellulari o altri dispositivi creati dall'uomo [9], e colture geneticamente modificate (vedi OGM e Piante transgeniche) per il controllo delle malattie come il mais transgenico [10].
Premessa [modifica]
Dal 1976 al 2006 si è verificata una drastica riduzione del numero delle api selvatiche negli Stati Uniti (ormai quasi estinte) [11] ed un significativo, sebbene graduale, declino nel numero delle famiglie allevate dagli apicoltori. Questo declino comprende il cumulo delle perdite dovute a tutti i fattori come l'urbanizzazione, l'uso dei pesticidi, l'Acariosi e la Varroa, il pensionamento degli apicoltori e la chiusura delle attività commerciali. Tuttavia alla fine del 2006, inizio del 2007, il tasso di riduzione è cresciuto raggiungendo proporzioni fino ad allora sconosciute ed il termine "Disturbo da Collasso dell'Alveare" è stato proposto per descrivere queste improvvise scomparse.[1]
Un recente studio delle Università di Plymouth e Stirling, in Inghilterra e di Poitiers in Francia, rintraccia nella diminuzione del polline una delle concause principali nella moria delle api: con meno nutrimento, viene meno l'apporto proteico delle api e di conseguenza si indebolisce il loro sistema immunitario. Colony Collapse Disorder (or CCD) is a phenomenon in which worker bees from a beehive or Western honey bee colony abruptly disappear. While such disappearances have occurred throughout the history of apiculture, the term Colony Collapse Disorder was first applied to a drastic rise in the number of disappearances of Western honey bee colonies in North America in late 2006.[1]

European beekeepers observed similar phenomena in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Portugal, andSpain,[2] and initial reports have also come in from Switzerland and Germany, albeit to a lesser degree.[3] Possible cases of CCD have also been reported in Taiwan since April 2007.[4]
The cause or causes of the syndrome are not yet fully understood, although many authorities attribute the problem tobiotic factors such as: Varroa mites and insect diseases (i.e., pathogens[5] including Nosema apis and Israel acute paralysis virus[6][7]). Other proposed causes include environmental change-related stresses,[8] malnutrition andpesticides (e.g. neonicotinoids such as imidacloprid), and migratory beekeeping. More highly speculative possibilities have included both cell phone radiation and genetically modified (GM) crops with pest control characteristics,[9][10]though experts point out no evidence exists for either assertion.

-An environment for artificial life, where flora and fauna gets born, lives, dies, fights, kills, gets sick, makes love and reproduces.

CREATURES:

- Creatures crawl around the island, they cannot fly and cannot swim so they avoid water, when they fall in, they drown and die.- Creatures can be male or female- Creatures are born without gender and cannot reproduce and are white in color and start walking around immediately- After a while they mature and become male or female and get their color (blue and pink)- When female meets a male creature then they mate and the female becomes pregnant (when male and female are mature and the female is not pregnant yet)- After a while she delivers a random amount of babies and becomes able to get pregnant again- The number of babies depends on the number of creatures close to the female: the more crowded it is around her, the less babies she gets.- The male impregnates any mature, non-pregnant female he meets. - The creature turns to a dark color when getting old and dies after a while of old age - Creatures can catch a virus, turn green, get infertile and spread the virus by touch to any other creature. They live just as long as healthy ones, only will not reproduce (again)- Infected creatures die after a certain time after the infection, because previously they lived just as long as they would being healty, but the result was in every cycle, the whole population would die out, all creatures would be infected or leave so few that they wouldnt survive neither.- Old creatures get slower than young ones.- Male creatures fight eachother and when their ability to defend themselfs is high enough, they survive, otherwise they die.- Every creature has an aggression level and if it gets over 99% then the creature turns into a serial killer, it colors yellow, cannot reproduce, or get sick, but instead kills every creature it comes in contact with. It can only be killed by old age or by another serial killer. It actively chases other creatures around and kills them as it gets close enough.- When an apple is close to the creature, it will walk towards it and eat it, so then the apple is gone for the others.
TREE:

- It grows using a recursive algorithm where every branch spawns a number of branches, depending on the location in the tree, that are progressively thinner and smaller and point in different directions, until the branch reaches the leafs. - When a leaf is grown, sometimes an apple drops to the ground, which the creatures eat.

I have been taking inworld pictures from the beginning of my second life, but didn't start showing them or working on them in photoshop until February of 2007.

I started taking pictures to keep a visual record of my second life, the creations that I would come across exploring the grid and the people who I met along the way. This developed into an invitation from the NPIRL (Not Possible In Real Life) group of some of the best content creators in Second Life.
I continue to be fascinated with the world itself and the people who reside here. Sasun Steinbeck is creator of a unique style of interactive art in Second Life, Morphing Sculpture. Using complex scripting techniques Sasun's sculptures are able to change shape, creating a dynamic sculpture that is always fascinating to watch. Rather than relying on a static set of shapes, Sasun's Morphing Sculpture can change into an infinite number of shapes that owners can enjoy for a lifetime.

Sasun is also the creator and maintainer of the biggest registry of art galleries in Second Life at http://sl-artgalleries.blogpost.com,, fulfilling the need to help art lovers everywhere connect to the many excellent art galleries in Second Life. The list currently has over 550 confirmed galleries on it and is distributed via notecard and a custom designed Gallery Tour HUD at kiosks at all of the galleries on the list.

The Kiosk.Net networked kiosk system used to distribute the list was also created by Sasun Steinbeck and is widely used by many residents as well as Linden Labs to distribute information, magazines, and objects across Second Life to their customers.

The severe lack of forsight by those in control this has led to the potential crash of neo-liberalism.We now see the wealth of the world in a different light. Some are even speculating that this is the end of American economic dominance in the world’s financial market. But don’t be deceived by the blame-the-victim rationalizing that’s being floated now. Let’s be clear about what policies and which people are behind the current financial crisis: neoliberal policies and the overwhelmingly majority of economically privileged white men (photo from same link) who created, implemented and benefited from those policies.Neoliberalism refers to a set of policies that encourage “less government” and unfettered (and unregulated) capitalism. The key elements of neoliberalism include: 1) the rule of the market, 2) reducing government expenditures on social services, 3) deregulation, 4) privatization, and 5) gutting the notion of “the public good.” The end result of neoliberal policies is that while a handful of people get very, very rich, these policies simultaneously exacerbate the suffering of just about everyone else and increase domestic and international instability. So, what we’re seeing now is just the logical, perhaps inevitable, result of these policies.

We were the biggest in Switzerland. I was the man in the Studio, the Epic Centre, knew everybody also in cut, TV journalist, anchor man, wrote for the news, scanned Reuters, AP, then made pay per view assignments, Hollywood, Film Marketing, Theatre and Theatre video master. We were 3 times awarded for Theatre of the Year, yes because of the video’s and then Streaming Red Bull TV, UNO, docters, I really saw a lot and then SAP events, build a elite Club, got a burn out.. and now SL performance Art
I know hahaha, Don’t want to anymore, video is hell, all those wanting to make a carrier and grow into it come to me, whining, then they are all alone. I saw people.. unbelievable: Weapon merchants, porn producers, politicians, always being the one trustable to make their trash worthy. They adopt you because they know the moving image is of great power and I am the master there, not really belonging and hidden in the society so they even have more trust because I am like invisible and must be like not existing. "Pixellust (Chi5)." It is a three-dimensional "self"-portrait, rendered as a pixelated icon. Emulating the early days of digital art, each .5^3 meter prim is the equivalent of a pixel of color within an eight color palette, which is inspired by the standard 16 colors found on a VGA computer display. Attached is a zipfile containing screencaps of the work.

I'm a musician, and sometimes digital artist based in Brooklyn, New York. I am best known in Second Life for my contributions to group exhibitions in Odyssey, numerous architecture commissions--including the construction and design of the dual performance halls for the Das Klenes Field Recordings Festival in Berlin--and for my prominent role of "The Devil" in Gazira Babeli's machinima film, "Gaz of the Desert."

I came to Second Life in February 2007. I soon got a job as a journalist, and got to meet the most interesting artists in SL. Seeing so much creativity inspired me to start taking pictures myself. I find that taking pictures helps me the look at the world a little closer – and there are so many wonders to see in SL.

I have no interest in calling myself an artist. I take snapshots. If I'm happy with the picture because of the motive, the colours, the people in it or anything, i upload it to Flickr. That's it. And if someone else like what I do, that's even better.

Sono entrata su Sl per curiosità e per approfondire, attraverso l'auto apprendimento, le potenzialità didattiche del metaverso. Ma col tempo, vedendo i prodotti realizzati dagli altri avatar nel metaverso, ho privilegiato la via della costruzione ed in ultima analisi la realizzazione di opere d'arte.
Ho frequentato i corsi di building su Indire e grazie ai preziosi consigli ed insegnamenti di Solkide Auer ho cominciato ad allineare i primi prim. Da quel momento abbiamo collaborato e sperimentato insieme e partecipato a mostre in parecchi musei e gallerie inworld.
La grande versatilità di modelazione dei prim (il "primitive": un oggetto tridimensionale, un blocco costruttivo di base con cui è stata creata tutta SL) mi ha dato la possibilità di sperimentare varie forme e tecniche.
Partendo dalla creazione di sculture basilarmente geometriche, ho sperimentato la possibilità di creare quadri di pittura simulata (prim paintings) applicando oggetti bidimensionali su un piano che rappresenta la tela gestendo le texture in modo da creare effetti visuali.
Ho poi privilegiato il "monoprim" creando opere massimizzando le potenzialità di un singolo prim cercando di tirar fuori, con la sola applicazione di texture o soltanto di colori, opere semplici nella loro complessità.
Ogni opera nasce "inworld" partendo dall'applicazione di semplici regole del build guidate dalla creatività, passione, dall'amore per le forme ed i colori. Ogni opera racchiude in sè spesso un messaggio frutto delle esperienze vissute all'interno di questo mondo arricchite dalla fantasia che questo mondo contraddistingue.
L'essere artista su Second Life è diventato il mio impegno prioritario. La realizzazione di quadri e di sculture, la possibilità di esporre in varie gallerie e, cosa più importante, il riconoscimento di ciò che esprimi attraverso la tua arte da parte di chi ti circonda, mi ha spinto a sperimentare cosa si prova a vivere da artista.
Da giugno 2008 una selezione delle opere da me realizzate sono visitabili presso la galleria Italic'Art che divido col collega Solkide Auer
Nella mia ultima fase ho realizzato opere immersive e la partecipazione al Burning Life è stata una grande opportunità per metterle in mostra, considerato che le opere in quanto fruibili dall'interno, hanno a volte bisogno di ampi spazi per essere vissute al meglio.
Dall'estate del 2008 ho esposto periodicamente alcune mie opere a Brooklyn is Watching, una galleria Americana che si avvale di un'interfaccia "Real", cioè di una galleria a New York City. Due delle mie opere "PSYCHEDELIC DREAM" E "SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT" sono state commentate nei podcast settimanali che i curatori delle gallerie inworld e real registrano.

SHELLINA WINKLER’S BIO

I initially joined the SL community out of curiosity; I wanted to check the potential of education in the metaverse via self-training. After looking at other avatars' works I decided to put building first and the creation of works of art became my main goal.
I attended some lessons of building at Second Learning – INDIRE Land thanks to precious Solkide’s advice I started putting together my first prims. Since then we started working together and exhibiting our works in many inworld museums and galleries.
The great versatility of prims gave me the opportunity to try different forms and techniques. At the beginning I mainly created geometrical works; later, I experienced the creation of "prim-paintings" by the application of objects on a board thought as a canvas, using textures in order to create visual effects.
Afterwards I focused my attention on “monoprim” maximizing the potential of a single prim trying to obtaining from it, by using textures or merely colours, simple works in their complexity.
Every single work sees its birth completely “inworld”. Creativity, passion and the love for shapes and colours generate a work with a meaning inside which is the result of my experiences lived in Second Life enriched, as well, by the fantasy which is the peculiarity of this world.
Being an artist on Second Life is my main purpose. Creating "paintings" and "sculptures", being able to exhibit in some galleries and, the last but not the least, my friends’ appreciation of my work, all allowed me to understand what it feels like living as an artist.
Since June 2008 a selection of my works can be seen at Italic’Art Gallery which I share with my colleague Solkide Auer.
In my last phase I’ve been working on “Immersive” works and my taking part at the Burning Life 2008 has been a great chance to show them. As most of them can be seen in their interior they need big space to be lived at their best.
Since summer 2008 I’ve periodically exhibited some of my works at Brooklyn is Watching, an American Gallery which has an interface in Real Life in New York City. Two of my works “PSYCHEDELIC DREAM” AND “SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT” have been commented in two podcasts that the curators of the galleries, both virtual and real, weekly record.

Secondlife e' stata ed e' una esperienza per me molto importante.
L'impatto iniziale di curiosita' per questo metaverso si e' trasformato con il tempo con la voglia di poter dire anche io qualcosa cercando di crearmi una identita' ben precisa.
Questa opportunita' me l'ha data il Build, ossia la capacita' di costruire oggetti di qualsiasi genere dal semplice al piu' complesso, naturalmente seguendo i corsi messi a disposizione dalla scuola di Build di Secondlearning. Con l'andare del tempo e dopo aver girato in lungo e in largo questo metaverso, mi sono ritrovato a voler fare qualcosa che andasse oltre i soliti canoni delle strutture e costruzioni classiche, provando ad esprimere delle mie idee attraverso delle sculture di vario genere. Iniziando da forme geometriche sono approdato poi all'uso di tecniche piu' difficili quali lo shade, che permette di manipolare un solo prim in maniera complessa e dando forme inaspettate e dissimili dalle solite cose che si possono trovare andando in giro. Naturalmente alle spalle c'e' un lavoro di tentativi su tentativi e intere serate a cercare di capire come meglio forgiare delle opere che potessero dare una emozione anche la piu' semplice..ma che potesse far soffermare su una idea che io ho in testa, e poterla condividere con altre persone.
Nel corso di questa mia seconda vita ho avuto l'opportunita' di partecipare a diverse mostre ed esposizioni sia in land italiane che in land internazionali. Tra le varie cito la costante presenza in tutte le mostre organizzate da Lion igaly nella sua Piramide e nei due Diadema, e di seguito elenco alcune delle altre:

Escher con tre opere: Relativity, Belvedere, Another world 2 oltre che a mie creazioni personali a fare da corredo,
Nel frattempo ho curato e curo costantemente la mia galleria personale insieme alla collega Shellina Winkler presso la Italicart, nata e voluta per dare un luogo di presenza fisso ai nostri lavori.
Periodicamente vado e esporre dei miei lavori al Brooklyn is watching, un luogo di esposizione a cielo aperto le cui opere vengono ritrasmesse su dei monitor in una galleria americana di New York city, prossimamente.....spero di continuare a poter dare emozioni.

Solkide Auer's bio

Second Life has been and is for me a very important experience.
The starting effect of curiosity for this metaverse soon turned into the wish of saying something trying to create a definite personality. Building gave me that chance, that is the ability to creating objects of any kind, from the simplest to the most complex. All that after attending some courses offered by the school of Building at Secondlearning. Later on, after exploring this metaverse far and wide, I realized I wanted to do something that would go beyond the usual rule of structures or classical framing; so I tried to express my ideas through different sculptures. I started creating geometrical shapes then I used more difficult techniques such as "the shade", which gives the possibility to manipulate a unique prim in a very complex way. As a result I obtained unexpected and different shapes quite unlike the ones anyone can find around.
It is clear that I've been working hard to get this result trying to get the good ones a and long nights spent trying to understand how to frame at my best some works that could convey an emotion.... even the simplest, and that it could attract people to an idea I had in my mind or just to share my message with them.

Questa sera, alle ore 22:00 , nella sim di Ex.it. ARENA apre i battenti con l’esibizione di due artisti italiani, Shellina Winkler e Solkide Auer.
Il termine ARENA esplicita bene il senso di questo evento, che vedrà più di quaranta artisti di calibro internazionale, disposti secondo una successione temporale ristretta, in un susseguirsi di mostre, performance, concerti e installazioni, dove oggetti colori avatar suoni chat teleport si fonderanno in una unica fantasmagorica performance che durerà quasi quattro mesi.

Questo straordinario avvenimento, il primo del genere in Second Life, sarà concomitante con la mostra Rinascimento Virtuale di Firenze, che ieri ha aperto le porte del Museo di Antropologia, dove sono allestite e mostrate le opere degli artisti che operano in World e non solo, gli stessi che
parteciperanno ad ARENA.

Grand Opening of ARENA and Exhibitions Calendar

This evening, at 10 PM (1 PM SLT), on the Ex.it SIM, ARENA will opening with the exhibition of two italian Artists, Shellina Winkler e Solkide Auer.

The Name “ARENA” well express the sense of this event: fifty International artists, one after another in a short period, with exhibitions, performance, concerts, installations, where objects, avatars, sounds, chat, teleports will merge together in a four month wonderfull performance.

This extraordinary event, the first on Second Life, is simultaneously with Rinascimento Virtuale at Florence, that yesterday was opened at the Museo di Antropologia, where are show the art works of the SL artists, the same that will partecipate to ARENA.

Following numerous questions about the procedures for accession to Arena Call for artists, here are some details:

D: How I can partecipate to Arena?

R: You need to send an email to uqbar@live.com, specify in the object "Arena - real name or aka"; you need to provide the follow informations in the email: generality (real name or aka), picture or a link of your art works.

It's Recommended the registration to the uqbar.media art culture group on the social network http://uqbar-mediaartculture.ning.com/ , where we will publish Useful informations about the event.We will provide the same informations through the mediartculture group in Second Life.
On Flickr was opened the group "Arena Call for Artists", where you can publish your works.

D: What are the 5 groups “visual art, ricreative art & performance, architecture & design, moda & fashion, free style?"

R:The first 4 groups represent the specific artistic areas of uqbar.media art culture, instead the 5° group is for the artists that are out of the others groups.

D: How is extended the place of the exibithion?

R:It's 1/2 of land with 1500/2000 for each artist.For special expositions it's possible to required more prims.

D: I can choose the dates for my exibithion?

R:The artist can indicate the favorite days for his/her partecipation, and we will try to follow his/her preference.

E’ opportuna l’iscrizione al gruppo uqbar.media art culture al social network http://uqbar-mediaartculture.ning.com/ , dove pubblicheremo tutte le informazioni utili, riguardanti l'evento, lo stesso verrà fatto atraverso il gruppo mediartculture in Second Life. R: lo spazio a disposizione è di c.ca 1/2 di land; i primitive a disposizione di ogni artista sono 1500/2000.

Uqbar. media art culture presenta “ARENA”, evento e esposizione d’arte realizzata in coordinamento con Rinascimento Virtuale, la mostra che si terrà a Firenze al Museo di Storia Naturale all’interno del Festival della Creatività (21 ottobre-7 gennaio). ARENA Call for artist è una grande mostra che si terrà dal 21 ottobre al 7 gennaio in second life presso la sim di EX.IT che collabora all’iniziativa. ciascuno ogni tre giorni, in uno spazio chiamato “arena” realizzato appositamente. Gli artisti saranno invitati e in parte selezionati con bando pubblico di adesione. Le opere saranno esposte
